Driving in Wigan
Right beside the M6.
Wigan has plenty of green space, from the woodland around Haigh Hall to Pennington Flash near Leigh, and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal runs past Wigan Pier close to the town centre. The town sits just off the M6, with the M58 heading west towards Skelmersdale, and the A577 links it with Hindley and Leigh.
If your vehicle is free of finance, it can secure a loan without leaving your drive. You borrow against what you own and keep using it while you pay the loan back. Loans range from £1,000 to £50,000, and we lend across the borough of Wigan and the rest of the UK, all online and by phone.
How it works in Wigan
You keep the keys and the logbook.
A logbook loan is secured with a Bill of Sale. While the loan runs, Logbook Money is the legal owner of the vehicle, but it stays with you, and you keep the keys and drive it as normal. For most loans, a signing agent visits to witness the Bill of Sale and take a photo of you with the vehicle for identity purposes.
We never ask you to hand over your V5C logbook or your spare key. Once the loan has been repaid in full, ownership of the vehicle comes back to you. Only one logbook loan can be secured on a vehicle at a time, so the Bill of Sale is the only one on it while you repay.
If you fall behind
Talk to us as early as you can. We will work with you to find a good outcome, such as a payment arrangement or a reduced repayment plan. Repossession is only ever a last resort.
Your car may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a loan secured against it.
Questions from Wigan drivers
How quickly could I get the money?
Apply online at any time: an underwriter usually calls within 2 working hours, and the whole process is usually complete within 24 working hours.
Will checking my quote affect my credit score?
No. Getting your quote uses a soft credit search with TransUnion, which does not affect your credit score.
Are Leigh, Hindley and Ashton-in-Makerfield covered?
Yes. We lend across the borough of Wigan and the rest of the UK, so it does not matter which town you live in.
Who owns my car while I am repaying?
While the loan runs, the Bill of Sale makes Logbook Money the legal owner of the vehicle. You keep the keys and use it as normal, and ownership comes back to you once the loan is repaid.
Borrowing responsibly. We only lend when the repayments are affordable for you. Our service is not advised, so if you are worried about money you can get free, impartial help from MoneyHelper, StepChange or Citizens Advice.
Across the UK
We lend wherever you live.
Everything happens online and by phone, so you can apply from anywhere in the UK. Find out more about borrowing elsewhere in the North West:
