A different way to borrow
A boiler breaks down, an unexpected bill arrives, or income takes a hit for a few weeks. High street lenders often say no, and payday loans can make things worse.
Logbook Money was founded to give UK car owners a fairer, more transparent way to borrow. If you own your car, chances are you can borrow against it, keep driving it, and pay back in fixed weekly or monthly repayments that suit your budget.
Our team is dedicated to providing every customer with thoughtful, attentive support. As a responsible lender we can offer loans of up to 80% of your vehicle's value, allowing you to continue driving your car while unlocking the value tied up in it.
You can apply online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Enter your vehicle registration, approximate mileage and the amount you would like to borrow, and after some initial vehicle checks we let you know whether your vehicle is suitable and the most we could lend, subject to further vehicle, credit and affordability checks. We offer loans from £1,000 up to £50,000, with quick decisions, payment by bank transfer, no hidden fees and the ability to settle your loan early to save on interest.
The promise
Three principles guide every loan we make, from your first quote to your final repayment.
Every decision starts with affordability, not just a credit score. If a loan is not right for you, we will say so.
A clear representative example and no hidden fees. Settle early at any time for a rebate on interest; settlement quotes include one month's interest.
Appointments and calls are arranged at times that suit you. We never pry beyond what regulation requires.
How our loans work
We never ask you to hand over your V5C logbook. Every loan is secured with a Bill of Sale: we become the legal owner of your vehicle while the loan runs, you keep the keys and carry on driving, and ownership comes back to you once it is repaid.
Borrower Information Sheet (PDF, opens in a new tab)Interest is calculated on a fixed-sum basis, so the total interest is set when you sign and we do not charge extra interest if a payment is late. Settle early at any time and the sooner you settle, the less you repay.
We lend throughout the United Kingdom. In Scotland you sign a Hire Purchase agreement online instead of a Bill of Sale, and send us the photos and documents we need, so there is no agent visit.
