The full process.
-
Step 01: Tell us about your vehicle
Enter your registration, the approximate mileage and how much you would like to borrow. After some initial checks we tell you whether the vehicle is suitable and the most we could lend, subject to further vehicle, credit and affordability checks. Cars under 15 years old are more likely to be accepted, and we also lend on vans and motorbikes.
-
Step 02: Complete the eligibility form
Add your contact and employment details and your current financial situation, including a short survey about your monthly spending. This gives us an outline of how much we could lend, based on your circumstances and what you can afford.
-
Step 03: Consent to a soft credit search
Before we process your enquiry, we ask you to accept our terms and consent to a soft credit search with TransUnion. It will not affect your credit score. Please be as accurate as you can about your finances: as a responsible lender we carry out further checks, including your bank statements.
-
Step 04: Choose your personalised quote
We check your vehicle further and create a quote for you. If a range of amounts or terms is available, use the sliders to tailor it, then choose weekly or monthly repayments. You will see the repayment schedule, so check it is affordable before you confirm.
-
Step 05: Share your bank statements
Our underwriters review your application and, if everything looks good, email you an Open Banking link. You share your last 60 days of bank statements securely, with no PDFs to download, and it helps fill in your income and spending. Check your junk folder in case our email lands there.
-
Step 06: Speak to an underwriter
An underwriter calls, usually within 2 working hours of your application, to talk about the purpose of the loan and make sure it is affordable. They will already have read your information. This is not an advised service.
-
Step 07: E-sign your credit agreement
If the underwriter is happy to proceed, they will tell you on the call. We email the agreement for you to read in your own time, with no pressure, and the underwriter is available by phone if you have questions. If you are happy to go ahead, you sign it electronically.
-
Step 08: Bill of Sale appointment
For most loans a signing agent visits, usually within 3 working hours, to witness the Bill of Sale and take a photo of you with the car for identity purposes. In Scotland you sign a Hire Purchase agreement online and send us the photos and documents instead, with no visit needed. We may offer this in other parts of the UK too, depending on your vehicle's value.
-
Step 09: Money sent to your bank
We call to confirm your payout details and the debit card for your repayments, then send the money by online bank transfer. How quickly it reaches your account depends on your bank.
Before you start.
- Your vehicle registration and approximate mileage
- Your contact and employment details, and your monthly spending
- Access to your online banking, to share 60 days of statements through Open Banking
- Your bank details for the payout and a debit card for your repayments
Your car and the Bill of Sale
Your loan is secured with a Bill of Sale, which makes us the legal owner of your vehicle while the loan runs. You keep the keys and carry on driving, and ownership goes back to you once the loan is repaid in full.
Your car may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a loan secured against it.
Settling early
You can settle your loan at any time and get a rebate on interest, so the sooner you settle, the less you repay. Early settlement quotes include one month's interest.
You also have the right to withdraw within 14 days of the agreement being made. You would repay the amount borrowed plus interest for the days you had it.
Borrowing responsibly. We only lend when the repayments are affordable for you. Our service is not advised, so if you are worried about money you can get free, impartial help from MoneyHelper, StepChange or Citizens Advice.
