Driving in Halifax
Steep roads and Pennine towns.
Halifax is a hillside town above the Calder Valley, home to the Piece Hall, the Minster and Shibden Hall in its own park. The A629 runs south to the M62 and Huddersfield and north towards Keighley, while the A646 follows the valley west through Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, with moorland on either side.
With towns strung along the valley and moorland roads between them, many people in Calderdale use a car or van to get to work, see family and do the weekly shop. If yours is paid for, you could borrow £1,000 to £50,000 against it and still drive it every day.
How it works in Halifax
Your logbook and spare key stay with you.
A logbook loan is secured with a Bill of Sale rather than by taking your vehicle. While the loan runs, Logbook Money is the legal owner of the vehicle, but you hold on to the keys and drive it just as you do now, around Halifax and up and down the valley.
We never ask for your V5C logbook or your spare key, so both stay at home with you. For most loans a signing agent visits to witness the Bill of Sale, and when the loan is repaid, ownership of the vehicle returns to you.
If you fall behind
Talk to us as early as you can. We will work with you to find a good outcome, such as a payment arrangement or a reduced repayment plan. Repossession is only ever a last resort.
Your car may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a loan secured against it.
Questions from Halifax drivers
How quickly could I get the money?
Apply online at any time: an underwriter usually calls within 2 working hours, and the whole process is usually complete within 24 working hours.
Will checking my quote affect my credit score?
No. Getting your quote uses a soft credit search with TransUnion, which does not affect your credit score.
Do you lend in Brighouse, Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge?
Yes. We lend across Calderdale, West Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. Everything happens online and by phone, with a signing agent visit to witness the Bill of Sale.
Who owns my car while I am repaying the loan?
The Bill of Sale makes Logbook Money the legal owner of the vehicle while the loan runs. You keep the keys and drive as normal, and ownership comes back to you once the loan is repaid.
Borrowing responsibly. We only lend when the repayments are affordable for you. Our service is not advised, so if you are worried about money you can get free, impartial help from MoneyHelper, StepChange or Citizens Advice.
Across the UK
We lend wherever you live.
Everything happens online and by phone, so you can apply from anywhere in the UK. Find out more about borrowing elsewhere in Yorkshire and the Humber:
