Driving on Wearside
Where the A19 crosses the Wear.
Sunderland grew up on both banks of the River Wear, with the sandy beaches at Roker and Seaburn along its seafront and Mowbray Park in the city centre. The A19 and the A1231 link it with Washington, the A690 heads out towards Durham, and Penshaw Monument stands on its hill above the roads between them.
If your vehicle is how you get to work, it is also an asset. As long as you own it and it is free of finance, a logbook loan lets you borrow £1,000 to £50,000 against it without selling it, and you keep driving it across Wearside while you repay.
How it works in Sunderland
Your car stays on your drive.
Your loan is secured with a Bill of Sale. That makes Logbook Money the legal owner of the vehicle while the loan runs, but nothing changes day to day. You keep the keys, park it where you always do and drive as normal.
We never ask you to hand over your V5C logbook or your spare key. For most loans, a signing agent visits to witness the Bill of Sale and take a photo of you with the vehicle. Once you have repaid the loan in full, ownership comes back to you.
If you fall behind
Talk to us as early as you can. We will work with you to find a good outcome, such as a payment arrangement or a reduced repayment plan. Repossession is only ever a last resort.
Your car may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a loan secured against it.
Questions from Sunderland drivers
How quickly could I get the money?
Apply online at any time: an underwriter usually calls within 2 working hours, and the whole process is usually complete within 24 working hours.
Will checking my quote affect my credit score?
No. Getting your quote uses a soft credit search with TransUnion, which does not affect your credit score.
Can I apply if I live in Washington or Houghton-le-Spring?
Yes. We lend across Wearside and the rest of the UK. You apply online, we speak to you by phone, and a signing agent visits you to witness the Bill of Sale.
Does my vehicle need a valid MOT?
Yes. The vehicle must have valid tax, MOT and insurance, be in good mechanical and cosmetic order, and be completely free of outstanding finance.
Borrowing responsibly. We only lend when the repayments are affordable for you. Our service is not advised, so if you are worried about money you can get free, impartial help from MoneyHelper, StepChange or Citizens Advice.
Across the UK
We lend wherever you live.
Everything happens online and by phone, so you can apply from anywhere in the UK. Find out more about borrowing elsewhere in the North East:
