Driving in South Shields
At the mouth of the Tyne.
South Shields sits where the Tyne meets the sea, with the Sandhaven beach, the parks along the seafront and the cliffs of Marsden Bay just down the coast. The A194 and A1018 lead out towards Jarrow, Boldon and the A19, and the coast road past Souter Lighthouse to Whitburn and Sunderland makes a lovely drive.
If your vehicle gets you to work, it may also help you borrow. A logbook loan uses a vehicle you own outright as security for £1,000 to £50,000, and you keep driving it. We never ask for your V5C logbook or spare key.
How it works in South Shields
On benefits or just started a new job.
If you receive benefits, you can still apply. As long as you are over 18, own a vehicle that is free of finance, meet our other criteria and can comfortably afford the repayments, we will consider your application in the same way as any other.
If you have recently started a new job and your new income is not yet on your bank statements, we will usually ask for your contract of employment instead. Either way, we look at your circumstances, not just your credit score.
If you fall behind
Talk to us as early as you can. We will work with you to find a good outcome, such as a payment arrangement or a reduced repayment plan. Repossession is only ever a last resort.
Your car may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a loan secured against it.
Questions from South Shields drivers
How quickly could I get the money?
Apply online at any time: an underwriter usually calls within 2 working hours, and the whole process is usually complete within 24 working hours.
Will checking my quote affect my credit score?
No. Getting your quote uses a soft credit search with TransUnion, which does not affect your credit score.
Can I apply from Jarrow, Hebburn or Boldon?
Yes. We lend across South Tyneside and the rest of the UK. You apply online and speak to us by phone, wherever you live.
Who can apply for a logbook loan?
You need to be over 18 and a UK resident, own a vehicle that is free of outstanding finance, have a regular income, and be able to comfortably afford the repayments.
Borrowing responsibly. We only lend when the repayments are affordable for you. Our service is not advised, so if you are worried about money you can get free, impartial help from MoneyHelper, StepChange or Citizens Advice.
Across the UK
We lend wherever you live.
Everything happens online and by phone, so you can apply from anywhere in the UK. Find out more about borrowing elsewhere in the North East:
